MMR Shortage

Measles outbreaks in Japan

There has been a recent  measles outbreak in Japan and doctors are being asked to be vigilant for symptoms of measles in visitors and returning travellers from Japan. To help protect Australians travelling abroad it is recommended that information should be provided to people wishing to visit Japan during the current measles outbreak.

Tragic Loss of One of Our Members

On behalf of all members of Dandenong District Division of General Practice we express our deepest sadness at the death of Dr Khulod Maarouf-Hassan.  Khulod passed in tragic circumstances while consulting at the Noble Park practice.  Khulod was an extremely caring and dedicated GP who worked within the Division over the last number of years, first as a GP Registrar.  Our sincere sympathy to Khulods family and the GPs and staff at the Noble Park clinic.

Osteoarthritis Pathway Implementation Collaborative Project

The RMHs Clinical Epidemiology and Health Service Evaluation Unit has developed an OA pathway website: www.oapathway.org.au.  It provides consumers, clinicians and healthcare providers with information about OA such as patient information booklets and exercise sheets and the OA Clinical Pathway Model of Care. 

Sick Kids Referral Line

The Sick Kids Referral Line  9345 7007 will provide a single point of telephone access for paediatric & neonatal advice, transfers and retrieval services.  Labels that can be used for telephone handsets are also available. Callers will get a menu of 4 options for connection to:

• PETS
• NETS
• The RCH Emergency Department
• The Paediatric Section of the Emergency Dept at Monash Medical Centre
