DCGPA Mission Statement

The Dandenong Casey General Practice Association is committed to supporting local general practice to provide optimum primary care for the community.

The Association will endeavour to be the focal point for general practice enhancement by providing members with educational and developmental opportunities. The Division will strive to influence the delivery of integrated health care for the community by facilitating activities and communication with general practitioners, consumers, hospitals, health services/professionals and governments.

Key Performance Areas

To work towards the attainment of the Association's mission statement the business of the Association is divided into three key performance area. To service the clients of the Division (GP members and health care consumers) the main agenda focuses on:

  • General practice enhancement for members
  • Integrated health care for the community

To achieve these two key performance areas, a third is required:

  • Efficient functioning of the division

Decision Making Processes

The Association's management structure commences with a well established Board of Directors that controls and oversees the business of the Association. The Board is made up of 10 GPs, inclusive of positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and six members. The Board members were appointed in November 2008 and consists of:

GPs are drawn from five geographic sub-regions, so that each area is represented on the COM. These are:

  • Dandenong, Bangholme, Doveton
  • Keysborough, Noble Park
  • Cranbourne, Hampton Park, Pearcedale
  • Endeavour Hills, Hallam
  • Berwick, Narre Warren

Each board member is allocated a portfolio (e.g. Aged Care, Immunisation, etc.) so that responsibility is shared within the board and individual GPs have ownership of particular board roles. The board meets monthly and in addition to this the executive (CEO, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer) meet bimonthly. The Chief Executive Officer, Ms Anne Peek participates in the board and executive meeting, but does not have voting rights.

The CEO and several subcommittees support the work and the decision making processes of the Division and the board.

The CEO and/or a member of staff and three or four GP's make up each of the sub-committees.
