Immunisation

Our Immunisation Program aims to continue to raise the immunisation rate within the Association boundaries. GPs and practice staff are given education and support in maintenance of the Cold Chain, accessing the general Practice Immunisation Incentive Program (GPII) and ACIR reports. Are your vaccines being kept in optimal conditions? Our Immunisation Program Coordinator can visit your practice, review the vaccine storage process and leave a temperature logger in your vaccine refrigerator that records changes in temperature for 7-10 days. This will help to produce a refrigerator map specific to your fridge. Results to you and corrective action advised as needed. Immunisation resources and web links are constantly being updated. The latest Immunisation Schedule is available, as well as the latest edition of The Australian Immunisation Handbook. Links that lead directly to fact sheets and immunisation sites are also accessible. Assistance and advice is available to practices within our boundaries in regard to cleaning up their immunisation data. As well as utilising ACIR forms and reports assistance, with accessing the ACIR website is also available. The Increasing Childhood Immunisation Coverage Rates in your Practice resource guideis available from the Association, please contact the Immunisation Program Coordinator. Regular CPD evenings and Practice Nurse Forums allow for latest updates on immunisation, vaccine storage and ACIR. Representatives from local government, GPs, Paediatricians, Dept. Human Services, Medicare Australia and the Association meet here quarterly to develop strategies for increasing immunisation coverage and for networking to increase opportunities for information exchange.
